What an absolutely gorgeous drive it is through Montana. It has to be the most breathtaking scenery I have ever driven through, and I have gone through our own Rockies many times on our side of the border. The road is a wonderful, non-stressful twinned highway, with wondrous views, amazing foothill ranching areas and beautiful blue waters. I commented to my dad that I now understood why in novels they always set it in a Montana Ranch, the area in the foothills held some of the most beautiful ranchland I have ever beheld in my life!
We hauled ourselves 1383 KM today, which was 14 hours on the road, 6:30 am till 8:30 pm. The kids were absolutely wonderful, I can’t believe they had so much fun reading, watching outside, and then enjoying some new videos that I bought for them Fourteen hours! I am so proud of my little superkids! I never would have expected that we could jsut keep driving and driving and driving till us adults were too tired to go on.
So we are in Twin Falls at a really lovely Best Western, I am going to take the kids swimming tomorrow morning, enjoy our free hot breakfast, then head out to what looked like the most spectacular scenie site ever. I am afraid of heights, but the view from this place…well, we will backtrack outta town for a few miles (yep, talking like the locals now, in miles) and I will post pics tomorrow if I can. The wireless here SUCKS and I am hoping after 10 attempts to get my post up, it will go!
Some pics from the drive, all scenery taken while in the car.
Lethbridge train bridge.
Kids and cheesy dino in Helena, Montana.
Random train in Montana beside us.
The main photo of this post was taken in Montana, along the highway, I couldn’t even capture how amazingly gorgeous it was.
