TheSuperMom Review : Quintura as a Kid Safe Alternative to Google

As someone who frets constantly about the moment her kids start surfing online, and not quite knowing what we are going to be doing to kid-proof things (that completely falls under my husbands jurisdiction of parenting, he’s the computer geek, let him shine and do his thing) this search engine made me very happy! Quintura is not only pleasing to parents because it weeds out all the inappropriate sites, it is also very eye-pleasing to children. I went and did a little surfing. Ok, I admit it, I searched the term beaver. Look, I couldn’t come up with anything else that kids might innocently search for and that would definitely bring up inappropriate sites. If you can think of other terms, go and try it out and let me know.

I love the tag cloud that also comes up as well, above the search bar, offering the kids even more suggestions to help them with their quest for information. Total thumbs up from me, not only for being darn cute, darn safe and darn useful, but for helping me sleep better at night that the web is just thismuch safer.

  • Cool, thanks for sharing! I'll load that on the kids login part of the computer (which I have no idea what the real term is, just that it doesn't require a password so we can still search for beavers, lol).

Thanks for posting this, even though the girls are a few years away from surfing the net (at least a couple I hope)it's nice to know that these safegaurds are out there as I also already fret about these things. Plus I needed a good laugh this morning and your choice to search beaver as an innocent word that would come up with not so innocent search results gave me a good giggle.
