The Joys of Large Outdoor Paint Projects

I don’t know a kid alive who doesn’t like a large outdoor painting project (we’ll ignore Tom Sawyer for the moment). For at least the first 10 minutes anyway. My 3 year old was even having a blast painting the rabbit hutch the other day, there is something so freeing about not worrying where your paint lands, either your clothes or the ground, and being able to paint such a huge area with brushes or rollers. Kade painted with me the entire time, I was amazed. I figured for sure he would finish the first coat, but no the subsequent ones. Nope, every time I went back, he was grabbing a roller or a brush and right in there up to his elbows giving me a hand with things. I am trying to remember if as a kid I enjoyed painting projects as much, I don’t think I had to whitewash fences, even though I was an acreage kid. The kids were literally counting down until the weather cleared up for us to get outside and get ‘er done. That also might have a lot to do with the fact that I bought two sets for them from the dollar store, each was a tray, a brush and a roller, all kid sized. (not miniature like some tend to be, just small.) They had those sets out and old clothes on before  we were even done breakfast that morning!
