This was just weird. What are the odds that as you run into a small city Walmart, aka the Airdrie one, that you are going to not only see a table stacked with a book that you wanted to read, but the author sitting at said table doing a book signing? Seriously, w-e-i-r-d luck. I had blogged about this book a month or so ago on my old blog, and had it in the back of my mind to pick up this summer. Then this evening after we got here I realized that Ivy had absolutely no barretts for her hair, something is that is a major crisis since she won’t even let me brush it half the time, only clip it back is a semblance of tidy. And they have to be the old fashioned plastic ones that we all wore as kids, and I can only find them at Walmart, nothing else stays in her hair. So we ordered Chinese for pick-up in town, then my mom and I headed in.
As soon as we were in Walmart, my mom ran into some Hutterites from the colony where she teaches, and while chatting with them, noticed the whole table setup ready to go. I was soooo excited! I do believe the couples mom knew were waiting to get the book as well, I think the women came in to buy it and speak to her. So I went and stood in line and got it signed, totally excited!
So what are the odds that you are in the same store where the only book I have really blogged about wanting to read was being signed by the author, AND within the two hour time period that she was there? I think I am picking up some Powerball tickets in the States, like everytime we stop!
So a very,very cool way to start the roadtrip adventures!
