Oh my, this one is good for any little girlie who loves puppies. Or her mom who adores the pigeon books and is vastly amused every time she sits down and reads them with her kids. I think these are the only books that are consistently getting 5/5 stars from us here at The Super Mom, everyone who reads them laughs themselves silly! And when it comes to rating books here at The Super Mom, its not always about any education value, or learning skills, its mainly about instilling the love of reading in our children, and what better way than to have a good laugh while reading with our kids!

Reading level: 2 – 6

Page Count: 40 pages

Publisher: Hyperion Book CH

What to expect: Pigeon desperately wanting a puppy, a few tempersome moments, cute as always.

Publisher’s synopsis: The Pigeon Wants a Puppy! was awarded the Children’s Choice Book Award for “Kindergarten to Second Grade Book of the Year”!

The Pigeon really, really, REALLY wants a puppy. C’mon, he’ll take good care of it! He’ll play tennis with it, and water it at least once a month!

Will you let the Pigeon’s dream come true? In this fourth entry in the best-selling Pigeon series, this now-classic character has his funniest star turn yet.

About the Author: Mo Willems is a six-time Emmy Award–winning writer and former animator for Sesame Street, and the creator of Cartoon Network’s Sheep in the Big City. Both his first book for children, Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus, and his fourth book Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale won prestigious Caldecott Honors from the American Library Association. The New York Times has called him “the biggest new talent to emerge thus far in the 00’s”. Mo lives with his family in Brooklyn, New York.

Our Rating:[rating=5]

I am still laughing from the first time we read this book. We picked it up at the library, and I was reading it to the kids on the way home since we just couldn’t wait. Ok fine, I had to read it because they were driving me nuts and I had to entertain them. I digress. This book had not only the kids and I laughing uproariously, my husband was laughing so hard that I honestly don’t think it was safe for him to drive. The best part of this book is that you can unleash all your inner sarcasm that is just waiting to come forth and read that pigeons words. Also, I have noticed that my son now reads it with the correct sassy inflections in his own voice, it is a very good book to have some dramatic fun with.

We love all the pigeon books, but this one is by far the funniest and our favorite!

Reading level: 2 To 6

Page Count: 40 pages

Publisher: Hyperion

What to expect: sass-talking, hilarious eye-rolling pigeon antics, and he learns to share by the end.

Publisher’s synopsis: When Pigeon finds a delicious hot dog, he can hardly wait to shove the entire thing in his beak. But . . . then a very sly and hungry duckling enters the scene and wants a bite. Who will be the more clever bird?

In this hilarious follow-up to Caldecott Honor winning Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!Mo Willems has created another avian adventure that encourages children to share even their most prized processed foods.

Pigeon’s Got a Website! Go to www.pigeonpresents.com for Pigeon and all of Mo Willems’ beloved characters.
