Love.It. In my ever so humble opinion, Melanie Watts just can do no wrong with her Scaredy books. I love that I enjoy reading them to the kids, that I find myself laughing and that they are all ever so much more than just reading, you explore all the information on the pages rather than just reading paragraphs. This one had the added bonus of a dog introduced as his friend which my daughter loves to no end, anything to do with puppies and she’s happy.
Reading level: Pre-K to 3,Ages: 4 to 8
Page Count:32 pages
Publisher:Kids Can Press
What to expect:hilarity, crazy Scaredy adventures, plans to meet the goldfish and avoid godzilla on the way,a dog chases him but its not scary to little ones,a good underlying moral about being friends with others who aren’t totally perfect.
Publisher’s synopsis:That lovable little worrywart is back. And he’s as scaredy as ever! In his latest adventure, Scaredy Squirrel sets out to make The Perfect Friend.
And once he’s spotted a perfectly safe candidate (with no teeth), Scaredy’s ready. Armed with a name tag, mittens, a mirror and a lemon, he’s prepared to make The Perfect First Impression. But just when every detail is under control, Scaredy’s Action Plan takes a surprising — and “toothy” — turn. Will he survive this ordeal? Will he find his kindred spirit? Will he discover the true meaning of friendship? Read Scaredy’s nutty story to find out …
