If you looked at the above ad, you would think that Lysol has been reviewed and approved by a pediatric society.
Not at all, says Wendy Mesley of Marketplace, it’s merely a shady twisting of a small survey (which the marketing company won’t actually release for public viewing) that involved calling pediatricians at home and asking them what brand they used in their homes, or which was the most recognizable.
If you watch the video she explores and explains how the company’s ads are completely trying to fool parents into thinking that the Canadian Pediatrics Society backs their products. In the interview with the head of the Pediatrics Society, he states that it is quite the opposite; they don’t believe the science works or helps, and they do NOT endorse products at all.
In fact, that symbol is not even the official one of the pediatric society, which is how they are getting away with it. It’s all merely implied to mislead parents intentionally.
Boooo on you Lysol! Shady and sneaky! You won’t be found in our house ever again!

I saw this episode of Marketplace too. I wrote a letter to them and they've obviously been getting a lot of letters cause I got a very carefully worded note back. They admit no guilt and say it was an independent study. If enough of us spread the word about stuff like this maybe they'll think twice before they do it again! (then again, maybe not)
