There are a lot of books when it comes to the area of puberty and kids, and choosing one out of the field of many can get overwhelming. 100% Me is an excellent introductory book for children to start learning about the basics of their bodies and how puberty is going to affect them.
I am not an expert, but I would think this is probably one of the less cringe-worthy books that you can start reading with your pre-teen, I can’t see too many “aw MOM!”s and blushing happening while going through it. The use of bright colors, cartoons and humor make it easier to read together, or apart from your child.
Do expect some rolling of the eyes and mumbling, though, we aren’t expecting miracles here.
As with anything though,be sure to read it first and make sure that there isn’t anything you would like to add to it, or clarify to fit in with your family values.
Because the three sections in the book cover girl, boy and puberty issues that concern both, I recommend it for a son or daughter. I think that boys should be educated about girls puberty and vice versa. This book is just that perfect small glance into what is going on in the lives of teens around them, without getting complicated or overwhelming.
It’s the perfect pocket guide to puberty!

Publisher’s synopsis: 100% Me is a must-read for kids approaching or just starting puberty. It encourages young adolescents on their journey to adulthood and provides lots of fun along the way. In three types of spreads – science, lifestyle, and advice – every subject is approached in a way kids will enjoy as they hunt or browse for answers to the mysteries of their changing bodies – as well as the opposite sex. The science spreads give all the biological facts with no embarrassing euphemisms, while the design ensures that information is presented in a fun and compelling way. Lifestyle spreads include games, quizzes, and thoughts on dating. Advice spreads deal with issues such as embarrassment, bullying, and failing in love. There is no “you must” or “you should” sentiment; kids are encouraged to reach their own conclusions.
