Guilt-Free Baby Gift : Melissa and Doug Clackers

There is nothing, NOTHING, worse that giving a gift, only to have it recalled for exceeding lead or chemical standards a few months later. I am sure everyone remembers the fiasco before Christmas 2007, when everything was being pulled from the shelves, companies were in a frazzle to assure us that they were taking care of the problem, and that allll the blame lay in the factories in China. Since then I have been a lot more particular about what I have given for gifts, and the sentiment has been echoed by a lot of my mom friends as well. So every now and then, I will post gift ideas that *should* be not only a hit, but the chances of recalls due to lead should be much, much less than usual.

These Melissa and Doug baby clackers are a great gift, not only are they wooden (so no plastic chemicals for children to ingest) they have right on the package that they are made with Non-Toxic dye. They must be pretty sure of the quality to announce that right on the package, can we say lawsuit bonanza if it wasn’t non-toxic!

I don't know if you have the same thing as we do here in the Uk, but childrens gifts over here carry the CE Approved sign that verifies that the item is safe for use. The products must go through quite a rigorous testing before carrying the certificate, but as a retailer its a great added selling point.
