Since we obviously love books here at The Super Mom, we decided to compile a list of our absolute favorites for each age group.

Hopefully our lists will help you with your gift shopping! We even have some adult books that we have reviewed or personally loved, and there is nothing better than giving the gift of entertainment in a good book!
Parents obviously appreciate their children being given books instead of junky toys and the quality of teen fiction is so amazing lately that adults are crossing over to read it as well.
Some tips for book giving:
- Ask your kids what books are on their birthday/holiday lists, encourage them to think about what series they would like to start reading, especially proficient readers and teens.
- Put bookstore giftcards on your and their gift wish list. There is nothing more exciting for a child than going into a bookstore and being able to pick out whatever they want from those shiny, new books.
- Go to a local bookstore and browse the selection with your children to see what interests them, and so they can see what the books look like, and make a list while you are there.
- If you are looking to share a charity activity with your children over the holiday season, you can choose to purchase books and donate them to a children’s hospital. They are always in need of books, unfortunately there are many hours to fill when they are in hospital, and beautiful books help! This is also something that can be done year round.
- Read a series with your pre-teen or teen reader. You’ll have a new topic to talk about and something to share together. This idea came from my 15 year old babysitter who saw that I was reading a book she loved, and we had a great conversation about it.
- Think about signing your child up for their own library card, if they are ready to tackle that responsibility, and you are ready to help guide them. It can cost as little as $5 and would be a fun way to celebrate their birthday.
