I receive my Dr Sears newsletter via email all the time, and this week’s headlines caught my eye. Since we are all back to school, everyones awareness of H1N1 is heightened, with the talks of swine flu parties starting up again, hand sanitizer flying off the shelves and reminders of coughing into elbows said over…and over…and over again.
So I wasn’t surprised that H1N1 was the main focus of the newsletter, but I was a little surprised that Dr Sears does not recommend swine flu parties. This quote straight from his article sums up why he feels this way.
Some people think it’s better to get the H1N1 flu now to at least get some immunity so that if the flu mutates and worsens in the coming years, they will be unlikely to catch it as they will have some immunity. I don’t believe this to be the case. If the virus mutates, it is possible that its immunogenicity will change as well.
So straight from one of the few Doctor’s whose opinion I trust most times. He also has a few links on the bottom of the article that are interesting and should be checked out!
