Children’s Book Review: Eyewitness Expert : Ancient Egypt

Everyone, at one point or another in their youth  becomes fascinated with mummies, pyramids and the secrets of Ancient Egypt. Some of us never grow out of it and a rare few even go on to spend their careers trying to solve the ancient mysteries that still taunt us today.

Eyewitness Expert by DK Publishing has an amazing series featuring topics that have interested us all at one point or another. I hope to be reviewing quite a few of these in the upcoming weeks before school is out since they are excellent material for home projects over the summertime.

Fun home projects, not boring.

This set has everything in it for a fantastic home or school project or a perfect set for a teacher who has a theme to do of Ancient Egypt.

It comes with a small Expert Files book, filled with information and then quizzes and activities to test your knowledge. The fold out map and wall chart are amazing and interesting and sure to be hung on a child’s wall quickly. The cd full of 100 great Ancient Egypt images is an excellent aide for teachers.

The larger Eyewitness Ancient Egypt book is filled with information, facts and pictures galore and is an excellent introduction to Ancient Egypt.

The pull out cards featuring the top 48 god and pharaohs are so neat and will thrill any little Egyptologist to no end.

The casket models that you pieces together out of paper are amazing but will need the skill of an older child or a teacher/parent helper.

The whole set makes for a fantastic week of studying and talking about Ancient Egypt, whether it is in a classroom or at home with your child who has an interest.
