Easy Morning Craft: Paper Embroidery

This has become one of my sons favorite crafts to do when he has time to undertake something a little more complex. To make it easier, I did up a packet of pre-drilled (poked ? lol) papers that he can take and embroider a picture on without getting frustrated.  He’s not quite ready to tackle creating the design and then poking the holes with the needle.Pre-poked (can that be a newly invented word please?) designs do take out the creativity, but lessen the frustration.

I think pretty quick we’ll be moving on to him drawing, then me helping him to pre-poke the holes, and then perhaps in a few more weeks, (months, who knows) he can attempt to design, poke, and embroider all by his lonesome. In the meantime, it takes me 30 seconds to poke the holes in a pattern on a sheet of paper, and I am rewarded with plenty of craft time for him.

These would make great cards to give for a birthday too! We might just make one for the birthday we have this weekend, Kade is on a roll with this, he now claims he is “a great sewer.” The shark he undertook today had me shaking my head, but he did manage it. He actually traced this one from a tracing kit we have, so he’s getting closer to drawing his own.
