Children’s Book Review: Polo & The Magic Flute

The second and last *sob* of our new Polo books is another fantastic creation and amazing journey. This book starts with Polo heading out fishing in his little boat, and as we all know, Polo never does anything without it turning into an adventure! He ends up shipwrecked on an island and meets a new friend, a panda bear who hands him a magic flute then *pop* is gone! The adventure then continues with Polo trying to find him.

This one was my least favorite out of the two, it didn’t really feel complete at the end. Don’t get me wrong, I still love it because of the excellent quality and the beautiful drawings, but it left me wanting too much more at the end. Kade liked it, but also wanted to see more of what went on. Maybe its because Polo and Lily had a similar ending to one of his other books, the phone at the end with Lily calling is similar to the alien with the walkie talkie in Way Back Home by Oliver Jeffries, but Polo & Lily felt a lot more complete.

Still worth my money compared to a lot of books out there! I also looked at the listing on Amazon for Polo & the Magician, and Polo & the Dragon, due to be published on September 29th, and they are the same size as this one. So perhaps the first two large ones were a collection meshed together? Not sure…but I will be pre-ordering these as well.

Note to Regis Faller: please create Polo in boardbooks so I can gift them to the younger kids in my life. I would have all my gifts done forever. I would be the crazy Polo lady.

I think I might already have claim to that title, Crazy Polo Lady. Greenwood's probably thinks "order another Polo book" when I walk in the door.
