From pimples to sneezing, bathroom breaks to suntans, most of your body’s functions are covered, and in full color, gruesomely graphic detail!
At 7 am in the morning, we start out learning about a sneeze, and the book travels through a day in the life of a body; your body, in fact. Every gross little thing that your body does in its own defense is covered and is sure to absolutely thrill kids! Who wouldn’t love looking into the inner ear and watching a ear-invading parasite get stuck in wax?? Or learn about how we vomit, from the first triggers our body go through before we get ill, then following through to the very yucky end?
There is nothing that children enjoy better than being able to screech “eeew!!” over gross bodily functions and nothing I enjoy more than a book that includes a fun time reading and learning to boot, and this book covers all those areas and more!
Reading level: 8 – 14 years
Page Count: 72 pages
Publisher: Dorling Kindersley
What to expect: intensely graphic pictures rating a 10 out of 10 for the eeeew factor, but also excellent information about our bodies and their natural defenses as well.
Publisher’s synopsis: From blistering bee stings to pus-filled pimples, this eye-popping book takes readers on a virtual tour of all of the grossest, gooiest, and most fascinating events that bodies have to endure. Featuring incredible 3-D graphics that reveal the action and body’s response in microscopic detail, Ouch! combines kid-friendly gross-out value with cutting-edge anatomical and biological expertise.
