Children’s Book Review: Little Turtles Big Adventure

This is one of our best Goodwill finds ever, book-wise. I don’t like to taunt people with books that aren’t in print anymore, but this is such a lovely story I had to share.

Little turtles habitat is destroyed by a road being developed. And yes, it is sad to read, he has no pond anymore, all the birds and frogs leave, and he has to find a new home. I like that it opens a dialogue with my children about the environment in a way that they really can grasp. They get it, they understand that when we build roads, we destroy the habitat of some creature, it may not be a pond with turtles, but there is something that lives there that is displaced, that has to find a new home.

Little turtle goes through all sorts of habitats, before a little boy picks him up and brings him to a pond, where he closes his eyes and has a nap in the sun, all happy again.

If you can find it, its a beautiful little keeper of a book.
