Children’s Book Review: Lego Star Wars – The Visual Dictionary

Who doesn’t like Lego and what kid doesn’t like space ships and Star Wars toys? What could be better than a combination of the two in this fun book entitled “Lego Star Wars – The Visual Dictionary”. While this book is targeted for Ages 7+, it definitely appealed to me as an adult as well. Or, more specifically, the kid inside of me who still loves to play Lego with his son. The pictures are incredible and the detail literally is mind boggling.

If you are a collector or a fan, this book gives you everything from the date of creation for each piece, to the number of pieces it came with.  Want to know the original part number? No problem, that is listed as well. The heavily detailed descriptions, captions and pictures will have you pouring over the book for hours on end. Take for example this page from the book:

Lego Star WarsThe Lego imagery jumps out of the page and will have any child enraptured. I recommend pulling it out to entertain the kids on those early mornings when the coffee just isn’t strong enough to get your heart beating. Unfortunately, my son now has a list a mile long of the Star Wars Lego that he wants, my  spirit is strong but the wallet is unwilling.  The page for the Millenium Falcon alone (my personal favourite) is so detailed that it describes parts I didn’t even know existed with pictures that make it feel like I’m looking at the toy in front of me.

I loved this book and am very impressed with the quality and effort that must have gone into creating it.  I highly recommend it for kids both young and old!
