Children’s Book Review: If You Give a Cat a Cupcake

We really enjoy these books, but our favorite is always going to be her book, If You Give a Moose a Muffin. This one is a very cute read, but to be honest, if you already have most of her books, they get tiresome to read all of them, all the time, one after another..endlessly.  But to be fair while reviewing, if I take this one and look at it apart from the others, it is an enjoyable read, the kids love how the kitten goes from one thing to the next and has cute little adventures, the illustrations are well done as always, and we love, of course, how it circles back to the beginning.

So if you are a big fan of this series, do go and pick this one up, the kitten is just darn adorable and the story is cute. Just don’t ask me to read them all in a row like my kids expect!

Reading level:Ages 4-8

Page Count:32 pages

Publisher:HarperCollins

What to expect: the usual pattern, one one thing leading to another, they visit the beach, they visit the gym and it all loops back to the cupcake of course!

Publisher’s synopsis:If you give a cat a cupcake, he’ll ask for some sprinkles to go with it. When you give him the sprinkles, he might spill some on the floor. Cleaning up will make him hot, so you’ll give him a bathing suit . . . and that’s just the beginning!

The lovable cat who first appeared in If You Give a Pig a Party now has his very own book! Written in the tradition of the bestselling If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, Laura Numeroff and Felicia Bond’s newest story will show everyone that Cat is where it’s at!
