If I can sing (poorly, mind you) a book to my children, it has great illustrations and a train, we’re already at 5 out of 5 for my review. This book is based upon the fairly famous children’s song Down By the Station, which is a tune even I can carry. Sort of. Regardless, the story goes whizzing past the train station, careens wildly into a schoolyard full of buses, vrrroooooms through a truck stop and stops suddenly at the page where the rocket takes off. Because this is where my son stops and inspects every…single…detail, because he is a little boy, and most little boys are obsessed with space. And he is no exception. Full of things that go go go, this book is a sure bet for the younger crowd.
My only wish is that this came in board book form to withstand the hands of smaller children, it is an excellent book for younger readers to sing with their parents, then enjoy alone.
