Childrens Book Review: Don’t Let The Pigeon Stay Up Late!

Another hilarious book starring one of our favorite kids book characters ever, The Pigeon. This time he’s wanting to stay up late, and is using every excuse in the book to do it! My favorite part to read was the middle where there are 8 blocks of cartoon pigeon with his various funny excuses why he shouldn’t sleep, and I chuckled reading the part when he chanted “hey, hey, ho,ho,  This here pigeon just won’t go!” I love how much fun we have with these books! And again, the illustrations are hilarious, how Mo Willems manages to convey such sarcasm and attitude in Pigeons cartoon expressions, I will never figure out.

Reading level: ages 2 to 8

Page Count: 40 pages

Publisher: Hyperion Books

What to expect: every phrase that your child has ever uttered to you when stalling at bedtime.

Publisher’s synopsis: It’s getting dark out, but one stubborn Pigeon is NOT going to bed! Toddlers and parents will love this interactive bedtime romp which puts readers back in the driver’s seat, deflecting Pigeon’s sly trickery as he tries to escape his inevitable bedtime.

Will YOU let him stay up late?
