blastlab Childrens Book Review: Blast Lab Activity Book

Blast Lab Activity Book is an excellent companion to the original Blast Lab book that I reviewed earlier on this site.  Full of the same type of fun scientific activities, it also has the added bonus of over 800 stickers to match.

Stickers that include intestines, snot and fart noises.

How can you lose giving this to your kids? I foresee endless hours of laughter and gross noises. Which to be honest, really isn’t that far off from a normal day in our house.

And when you add in the activity that shows kids how they can easily make their own Whoopee cushion, you can perhaps triple the amount of laughter this book will garner.

The activities in this book are slightly easier than the ones in Blast Lab and the materials needed are  more likely to be in your household already.

If you pair the two together they are a perfect recipe for summertime fun while school is out!

Reading level: 7 – 12 years

Page Count:64 pages

Publisher: Dorling Kindersley

Publisher’s synopsis: Blast Lab Activity Book catapults young readers into the role of scientists, explorers, and inventors. Packed with easy-to-follow yet spectacular experiments, as well as sticker sheets, quizzes, and astonishing extra information, the book will keep curious kids occupied for hours. By following the step-by-step instructions, young inventors can create their own fantastic flying machines from household objects, fool their brains with mind-bending illusions, and learn about physics, chemistry, psychology, and more along the way.

About the Author:Richard Hammond loves cars and science. As co-presenter of the BBC’s hugely successful Top Gear and host of BBC Two’s Blast Lab, his dreams come true on a daily basis. His passion for learning has also taken him around the world in search of the Holy Grail for BBC1 (he didn’t find it). His children’s book titles include Can you Feel the Force?, Car Science and Blast Lab. Richard is married with two children.
